New York! New York!

As some of you may be aware, I love to enter competitions. I wouldn't say its a hobby but more bordering on obsession. I'm always chasing that next big win and just after Christmas this year I got it! I won a nice little trip to New York City. Okay so its not so little, I'm just trying to be modest.

The trip is for 2 people and includes the following:

*Return flights from Heathrow Airport (British Airways)
*2 nights stay at the Husdon Hotel in New York City
*Return flights, in a Seaplane, from New York City to Montauk in the Hamptons
*2 nights stay at the Surf Lodge in Montauk
*£500 spending money

The Hudson Hotel is situated right on the corner of Central Park and only about 10 - 15 minutes walk from Time Square. So it is in a pretty central location. Although is there any such thing in New York City? There seem's to be so much to do and see there that the entire city could be classed as central.

The Seaplane takes about 35 - 45 minutes to get from the city to Montauk. Now, don't get me wrong, I love flying (even though I am scared to death of heights in my every day life!) but is this small aircraft going to be pushing me to my limits? I suppose this question will be answered in time.

The Surf Lodge seems to be the "trendy" place to be in Montauk, so I should stick out like a sore thumb.

I had until the end of the year to pick a date when I would like to go so I decided to head out in June. June 12th to be precise. Apparently June and September are the best times to go but I guess that would depend on who you ask. And as I have never been to New York before, I am not that person.

I will do further posts on each aspect of the trip in due course. I know I haven't got long to act on that though, as it is just over 3 weeks until we go! And then I will do an overall trip report when I get back. So much to do and so little time!

The First Post Is Always Better Than The Last

Hello blog readers! I have deliberated on starting a blog for a while now only to be met with the question 'What should the blog be about?'. Well after racking my brain for way longer than it should be racked for, I decided to create a blog that doesn't really have a on topic subject. So it's just going to be about anything and everything. Which may take this blog in a rather random direction. But who cares right?

So now the dreaded FIRST POST is out of the way, I can actually start posting something a little less drab (hopefully). And if not then you can bitch at me in the comments section :-)
